Supply Chain: 2019 trends as seen by VISEO

We interviewed Gilles Perez, our SCO director, to find out his opinion on the 2019 trends in the sector in France.

What will be the major trend in 2019?

For most of the major market players, the digital transformation of the Supply Chain remains at the heart of their concerns, but we are seeing that more and more companies are turning to innovation to optimize their processes.

Indeed, users' behaviors are now subject to constant changes, which encourages companies to be more and more reactive and to develop their ability to react to any request.

The ability to model, refine purchasing trends and react to sudden changes in demand is becoming crucial for all Supply Chain departments.

The field of forecasting is thus decisive and many initiatives are being taken to integrate AI bricks and thus provide unparalleled responsiveness!

Another useful innovation is the IOT's contribution to traceability processes. From now on, IOT is at the service of traceability, which then enriches the user experience both in terms of securing consumption and sharing product information.

What are the customers' expectations?

Customers' expectations on the Supply Chain are more in line with the evolution of project modes.

With the widespread use of SaaS or cloud applications, we continue to rethink our delivery models. This is all the more true in view of the imbalance between supply and demand on IT profiles in France in particular.

The proximity of the actors to the only tasks essential to the project is certainly an area of work that should not be underestimated. In this context, application architects are becoming essential to reduce implementation times and supply high-performance and sometimes remote service centers.

On the Supply Chain solutions side, what are the technical evolutions?

Even if technical developments are still important, I am convinced that useful innovation will be the source of new concepts in the future!

If initiatives begin to emerge around IoT and blockchain, a secure and decentralized information storage and transmission technology based on a registry distributed over a computer network, the coming months will most certainly mark a turning point in the case of target uses. We will certainly share around these advances throughout the year.
