VISEO Carbon Footprint Report

Our Commitment to Sustainable Technology

For several years, VISEO has been actively committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), taking into account stakeholder expectations and the challenges of our industry.

Particularly on environmental issues, VISEO strives for sustainable technology through key initiatives:

  • Raising Climate Awareness : We engage our employees with collective intelligence workshops (such as the Climate Fresk and Digital Fresk), practical guides, and MOOCs to collectively tackle climate challenges.
  • Reducing Environmental Impact : We annually measure our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and implement action plans to reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Promoting Sustainable Technology : We advocate for collective action on sustainable digital practices, believing in the strength of collective efforts to address environmental issues.

What is a Carbon Footprint?

A carbon footprint is a diagnostic tool that measures all greenhouse gas emissions, both direct and indirect (known as scopes 1, 2, and 3), produced by an organization (such as a company, individual, or community) over a given period. These emissions are categorized into three scopes:

  • Scopes 1 and 2 : Emissions that are controlled or owned by the company.
  • Scope 3 : Indirect emissions that are neither controlled nor owned by the company.

Carbon Footprint

GHG emissions are calculated by multiplying activity data by the corresponding emission factor (e.g., emissions related to electricity consumption are calculated as consumption in kWh × emission factor in kgCO2e/kWh).

VISEO’s Latest Carbon Footprint Results

VISEO’s latest carbon footprint report, conducted in 2023 for the year 2022, covers France, Spain, and Morocco. The report shows a total carbon footprint of 8435 tCO2eq, which equals 3.8 tCO2eq per employee. The breakdown of emissions is as follows:

  • Scope 1: 180 tCO2eq
  • Scope 2: 180 tCO2eq
  • Scope 3 : 8075 tCO2eq

Carbon Footprint

The main sources of emissions are related to the purchase of goods and services (68.5% of the total) and commuting, business travel, and fuel (16%).

Evolution of Calculation Methods and Progress

Since our first carbon footprint report in 2019, calculation methods have evolved, making overall comparisons imprecise. However, significant advancements include:

  • Expanded Geographic Scope : From France in 2019 to France, Spain, and Morocco in 2021 and 2022.
  • Increased Use of Raw Data
  • Expanded Scope 3 : Including more detailed data on our value chain.

GHG Emission Reduction Targets

This carbon footprint report serves as a baseline for developing a decarbonization strategy. VISEO has set a target to reduce scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 42% in intensity per employee by 2030, using 2021 as the reference year and  drawing on the SBTi calculation methodology (1.5° scenario). Preliminary results from 2022 show a 14% reduction in carbon emissions per FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) between 2021 and 2022, despite a 9% increase in staff.

Although we have not yet set a quantitative target for scope 3, VISEO is implementing action plans to reduce overall emissions. For more details on our initiatives and action plans, please refer to our [Carbon Footprint Presentation]

VISEO remains committed to pursuing its efforts for a sustainable future and invites all stakeholders to join us in this essential journey for our planet.
