If you decide to add a new domain, such as manufacturing or logistics, this will involve a dedicated project including needs assessment, workshops, activation of multiple scope items, configuration, potential data migration and user training. This approach enables your ERP to grow alongside your organisation.
Hotfix deployment is entirely seamless and has no impact on your operations. Bug fixes and regulatory updates are therefore implemented smoothly.
Major version upgrades of SAP Cloud ERP require regression testing to ensure that the system continues to perform as expected after the update. These tests can be partially automated and may even be included within a TMA (Application Management) contract. This represents the only cost associated with updates — a far lighter burden than periodically having to redesign an entire ERP system.
The adoption of new features may range from simple user communication, to activating a new scope item, or implementing a new business domain within the ERP. Naturally, the latter involves the most significant implementation costs. However, while certain ERP components may require additional licences, most can be activated within the existing subscription. As a result, expanding into a new domain does not usually lead to substantial increases in overall ERP operating costs.
